The Alganatura Sicilia Company is the story of four friends, including three agronomists, who decided to bring the cultivation of spirulina algae to Sicily, after their experiences in Africa on projects focused on fighting malnutrition. Their aim is to spread the knowledge of this extraordinary food and its properties, introducing its use in the daily diet by including it in our dishes.
In 2014, in collaboration with University Research Centers, the first experiments for the production of spirulina in the Mediterranean environment began, using highly sustainable methods.
Production takes place in Scoglitti, one of the warmest and sunniest areas of Sicily. Thanks to solar energy algae develop a great amount of proteins with high biological value, vitamins, minerals and omega 3.
What started as a project between friends is now the unique reference point for spirulina algae production in Sicily and one of the most important in Italy.
